Mick Lee is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist passionate about working with adolescents and children in residential treatment settings. He specializes in trauma work and treating children with autism spectrum disorder.

Although he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, he changed careers to pursue his desire to work with individuals struggling with mental health and difficult family systems. He received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles. His training background centers on trauma-focused therapies and substance abuse services, with further training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Child-Centered Play Therapy. He is involved in personal work with 12-step communities and spent a majority of his pre-graduate work providing mental health services to marginalized communities and people of color.

His approach to therapy involves patience and creating a safe and genuine environment. He prefers to build his approach from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also collaborating with fellow clinicians and using creativity to provide unique and specialized care for his clients.

Outside of therapy, Mick loves being an introvert. He enjoys playing sports and surfing, stemming from his history as a professional athlete, but a majority of the time he prefers relaxing indoors playing games with friends or watching scary movies with his cat.

Overall, Mick loves being a therapist and the passion he brings to his work stems from gratitude and love for those who supported him in his own mental health journey!
