“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” -Shakespeare
Morgan Parker is the Program Manager of Residential Mental Health at Visions. She joined the Visions team in early 2009 as a Program Aide before becoming an Educator and then Facility Coordinator at the Mental Health facility. Prior to Visions, Morgan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from UCLA and spent a decade working in academic publishing. She has helped write interdisciplinary educational modules as part of a school reform initiative, tutored and advocated for students with learning differences, and worked in a women’s sober living and shelter. Her background in education, experience in residential treatment, and dedication to residents and families guide her in supporting the clients’ individualized treatment needs.
Morgan is a native of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley—a born and bred “Valley Girl.” According to Morgan, the best aspect of Southern California is the proximity to the beach. The beach is her happy place. When she is not at work, she is with her children (who also love going to the beach). Morgan enjoys watching her kids play soccer; eating ramen and sushi with them; or visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios (dressed in her Hufflepuff House clothing, of course). In addition, she is pleased to come home daily to her beloved tuxedo cat, Desdemona.
Morgan’s superpower is being an inclusive and reassuring presence, supporting others with the compassion we all deserve. She believes everybody needs to have connection and purpose in their lives and feels lucky to experience these working at Visions. Morgan says she has met the best people at Visions—families and staff alike.
