Daniel Dewey is an Educator at the Residential Dual Diagnosis house. With an extensive background in education, he specializes in guiding Visions kids toward reaching their educational goals. Some of his current projects involve finding new ways to engage his students so that they can discover that learning can be more than just work.
Daniel has been part of the Visions community since 2002 and has been called on to wear many hats, including program aide and office assistant. Prior to joining Visions, he worked in special education with at-risk kids. In addition, he occasionally participates in tutoring and proctoring services. He graduated from Azusa Pacific University with his Clear Credential; and California State University, Northridge, is where he earned his Preliminary Credential. His bachelor’s degree is from Cal State Los Angeles, and he has an associate’s degree from Pasadena City College.
Daniel has a passion for being a part of the overall transformation the kids go through while in treatment. What most fulfills him professionally is when his students thank him at the end for not giving up on them when they were hopeless. His superpower is his patience, communication skills, and experience in working with challenging kids.
By day, you can find him working on a puzzling math problem, schooling one of the kids in pool, or running a study hall. In the evening, he is usually on a hike or playing baseball with his son when he’s not having a BBQ with his family.
