Patterson Perspective Founder Daniel Patterson has dedicated his life to educating and supporting parents to raise authentic, vibrant, and thriving teenagers. With more than 14 years of experience in education, Patterson started his journey at Willamette University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and Media Studies and a Master’s in Secondary

Following his graduation in 2003, Patterson moved to Las Vegas to begin his career in education. Teaching seventh grade English at Sedway Middle School, he spent two years gaining field experience, before moving to Newport Beach to teach high school at Corona del Mar Middle/High School. After teaching for 10 years, Patterson went back to school to get his administrative services credential at the University of California, Irvine, and then returned to Corona del Mar to serve as the school’s Assistant Principal.

Wanting to extend his reach and avenues to effect positive and progressive changes, Patterson launched his full-time consulting firm, Patterson Perspective Inc. in 2017. To date, Patterson has worked with more than 100 families. His consulting work includes positive reinforcement to teenagers so they are able to reach their full capacity in academic and social frameworks and by giving parents the necessary tools for their children to achieve this.

Patterson’s next endeavor is the launch of his first book, The Assertive Parent, which was published on May 29, 2018. Drawing from his years of experience, The Assertive Parent is a compilation of hacks, tools, and strategies that serve as a roadmap for parents to assist their children in building autonomy, authenticity, and resilience.

Patterson has been a featured voice in several publications, including contributions to NBC News, Fox News, HuffPost, Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register,,, among others. He has also been an invited expert on podcasts, radio stations, and speaking engagements, including “TedX Newport Beach,” “My Dad Pod,” “The Bruce Cook Show,” and “No Bounds Podcast.” In addition, he has received numerous awards and recognition including Rotary Club Teacher of the Year; PTA Honorary Service Award, Newport-Mesa; USD Superstar Award for Administration, and the City of Newport Beach Proclamation Recipient.

Patterson is extremely passionate about advocacy work and getting involved. When not in the office, he can be found using his expertise on the board of directors of two nonprofits, One Recovery and the Imagine Foundation. Both organizations are committed to assist and empower struggling young people.

Outside of work and community involvement, Patterson resides in Orange County, California, and is happily married to his lovely wife/attorney, with three beautiful children. During his free time, Patterson enjoys tennis, reading, spending time with his family, and finding new ways to get involved with his community.
