“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” – Joseph Cambpell
Alex Garcia is an Electronic Health Record (EHR) System Administrator for Visions. With an extensive background in database management, she specializes in assisting clinicians, program aides, and contractors in learning system interface and maintaining compliance with Visions, state, and Joint Commission standards. Some of her current work involves integrating EHR with our new toxicology laboratory.
Alex has been part of the Visions community since 2013, starting as a quality assurance associate. She was promoted to System Administrator in early 2015, charged with implementing a new EHR at that time. Prior to joining Visions, she assisted female foster youth, ages 18–25, at United Way of Ventura County by helping this population find housing, secure employment, and receive financial aid for college and emergency situations.
Alex graduated from California State University, Northridge, in 2014 with a B.A. in Psychology. She has a passion for helping Visions personnel and contractors document the very important work they do. What most fulfills her professionally is knowing that her work increases accessibility for families who come to Visions for support.
By day, you can find Alex working fastidiously on professional or personal projects, or spectating and participating in motorsports. At night, she is usually trying to take the perfect photo of her cat, Fay, for Instagram.
