Karen Booth is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in eating disorders, addictions and mental health and has been practicing since 2009. She received her B.A. from University of California, Santa Barbara and her masters in clinical psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara. Karen honed her skills with eating disorders, body image issues and an array of psychiatric conditions in Santa Barbara at Central Coast Treatment Center and Crescend Health. She enhanced her expertise as a case management expert and holistic therapist while serving homeless families at Raphael House of San Francisco. Since arriving in Los Angeles, Karen has worked with adolescents and young adults at Rosewood Santa Monica, Avalon Malibu, La Ventana, Destinations to Recovery, and The Haven at College. Karen maintains a private practice in West LA, where she sees individuals, couples, families and teens.
Karen is progressive, warm and compassionate with clients, partnering to work towards their goals of managing difficult emotions and skillfully coping with life’s adversity. Her therapeutic style is comprehensive and holistic, drawing from psychodynamic to cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies. Karen is passionate about working with individuals struggling with body image and eating disorders and strives to help clients understand the purpose their behaviors have served. She believes success is achieved by healing past emotional wounds and sustained by building and strengthening new coping skills.
