Fake ID’s and Cash Lead to Heavy Drinking For Teens
A study has shown that teens who have access to fake ID’s (like the one from Hawaii shown above) and more personal spending money are more likely to drink heavily and engage in risky behaviors while drinking. More teens than originally thought actually buy their own alcohol. Many teens report having fairly easy access to obtaining a fake ID, which contributes to more frequent binge drinking.
An adolescent treatment center should understand the pressures facing teens today and provides specialized treatment for this group. Drinking is often a symptom of greater problems, such as mood disorders and learning disabilities, and a lack of skills to deal with the pressures of being a teenager. Teens are taught useful tools to help deal with overwhelming feelings and receive proper diagnoses and treatments for underlying emotional and behavioral issues. Teen alcohol abuse doesn’t have to mean a dead-end for teens. With the proper attention and treatment, it can be a new beginning.
